Dear players, members and supporters
As we stand on the threshold of the 2025 cricket season, I extend a warm welcome to all associated with Meopham Cricket Club. Reflecting on our journey, last year was a testament to our collective dedication and passion for the sport.
A Glance Back at 2024
The 2024 season was marked by significant achievements. Our 1st XI clinched the top spot in the Kent County Village League Division 2, showcasing consistent performance and teamwork throughout the season. This accomplishment has paved the way for our promotion to Division 1, a challenge we eagerly anticipate.
Individual brilliance also shone through. Mark Lewis-Ranwell emerged as our top run-scorer with an impressive 747 runs, while Matt Innes led the bowling attack, claiming 33 wickets. Their contributions were instrumental in our successful campaign.
Our 2nd XI continued to show their tenacity, finishing mid-table in a league where at the start of the season, it was anyone's guess what would happen to the clubs taking part.
Our junior teams had a fantastic year as well bringing home yet more silverware. The junior section continues to expand, providing the adult teams with players who will, I am sure, go on to become great adult cricketers.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The upcoming season presents new opportunities and challenges. Our 1st XI's promotion to Division 1 of the Kent County Village League will test our mettle against formidable opponents. We are committed to maintaining the momentum and striving for excellence at this higher level.
Our 2nd XI continues to be a vital part of the club's structure, providing a platform for emerging talents into league cricket and ensuring depth in our squad.
Our Sunday and Developmental XI gives our juniors, alongside those adults who cannot play on a Saturday but want to play cricket, the opportunity to play adult cricket in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The junior section of Meopham CC remains a cornerstone of our club. All of our teams have demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing victories and demonstrating enthusiasm and skill that promises a bright future for the club.
Beyond the Boundary
Cricket at Meopham is more than just the game; it's about community and camaraderie. Our tour to Ireland in 2024 was a resounding success, blending competitive cricket with memorable social experiences, and I'm sure this year's tour will be just as good.
It's also been great to see more family members at the club, as well as past players. Whatever your association with Meopham CC, you're always welcome to come along, say hello and have a drink.
Here's to 2025!
As we embark on this new season, I invite all members, old and new, to be part of our journey. Whether you're a seasoned player, an aspiring youngster, or a passionate supporter, Meopham Cricket Club welcomes you. Together, let's make 2025 a year to remember.
Warm regards,
Bruce Clarke
