Both Saturday teams faced Linton Park, the 1st XI entertaining their old rivals at the Green. Inserted into bat, Linton Park never broke free from tight Meopham bowling, Kevin Presneill and Josh Knowler both passed 40 as the visitors finished their innings on 155-9. Fit again Jon Pollard took 4-12 from 6 overs, and Hugh Bryant took 3-32 from his 6 overs. After the early loss of skipper Dave Pollard, Meopham were taken to within range of victory by the in form Andy Powney (67) and Gary Howorth (36). 4 quick wickets then fell before Hugh Bryant and Adam Roxburgh saw Meopham home with over 3 overs remaining. At the half way point of the season, the 1st XI move into 3rd place in KCVL division 1, 14 points behind the leaders.
Meopham 2nd XI chose to bat first on a good looking wicket with a lightning fast outfield. A solid foundation to the innings was provided by Darren Deeks, Gavin Tovey (41) and Mick Clark (56 not out), skipper Tony Pearce fell first ball before u16 player George Williams (21) helped add 53 for the 4th wicket with Clark. A late boost was provided by Gene Clout as Meopham closed on 187-6. In reply, the home side gradually lost impetus after a bright start, and wickets fell regularly despite a valiant 52 from Tobey Castle. Dan Plumb bowled an excellent opening spell of 9 overs taking 3-23, Jack Fox bowled really well with no luck, Smit Surve bowled tidily in the middle of the innings and Darren Deeks swept away the tail taking 3-17. Gene Clout scored a direct hit run out too. A comfortable 39 run victory which sees the 2nd XI leap two places into 2nd place in division 5.
