Lewis-Ranwell stars in 10 wicket win for 1st XI Another nightmare for 2nd XI at Kemsing Sunday XI 100% record continues

1st XI v Horsmonden 1st XI

Horsmonden won the toss and elected to bat at the Green, Ed Streeten batting at 5 hit 83 runs as the visitors set what looked to be a competitive total of 181 from their 40 overs. The wickets were shared around the Meopham attack, spinner Adam Orridge took 3-33, seamer Miles Tucker 2-43 and skipper Andy Powney 2-22. Meopham openers Powney and Mark Lewis-Ranwell made light work of the run chase as they completed a superb win with an unbeaten opening partnership of 182, Lewis-Ranwell hitting 107 not out including 17 fours and 1 maximum. 20 juicy points in the bag!

2nd XI away at Kemsing CC

On their last visit to Kemsing in 2016 Meopham 2nd XI were bowled out for 40, and didn't fare much better in 2018. Winning the toss and batting, runs were hard to come by against a strong home attack. Despite a slow but steady opening partnership of 55 between Andy Bryant and Darren Deeks (59), once the first wicket fell a quite remarkable collapse ensued with 10 wickets falling in the space of 10 overs. Skipper Tony Pearce added to the ongoing disaster with a kamikaze run out. A total of 96 was never going to trouble the hosts and Kemsing skipper Graeme Wood hit a classy 50 as the home side won by 9 wickets.

Sunday XI v Earlswood Strollers

On a delightful Sunday afternoon, the strong visitors won the toss and batted. Three half centuries helped them post 227-8 in 40 overs. The only bowlers to exert any control were Matthew Innes (2-24 in 8 overs) and Steve Innes (3-32 in 7 overs). Meopham's young batting line up found it tough against a decent bowling attack, skipper Alex Bryant scored 35, with Steve Innes (19) and Harvey Luckett (13) the only other players to make double figures. An easy 126 run win for Earlswood Strollers. Meopham Sunday XI; played three lost three! The development of our young players is more important though.
