A superb win for Meopham U15s at the Green, by 2 wickets against Borstal. With three players missing doing their Duke of Edinburgh awards, three replacements were called up from the U13 squad.
Borstal batted first and a big total looked on the cards as captain Naidoo and Hick got off to a flying start. Once this partnership was broken, wickets fell regularly and Borstal collapsed from 63-1, to end on 102-9 from their 20 overs. Leg spinner Luke Stringer led the way with 4-11, Lewis Utchanah 2-12, and Marcus Sinden and Matt Stibbons got 1 wicket apiece.
Meopham started the chase in equal fashion and raced to 48 off of 6 overs, Max Luckett hit a quickfire 21 and Marcus Sinden 13. But three wickets in one over rocked the hosts, and the innings looked doomed at 60-7, then 73-8. Enter Daniel Hickford, called up from the U13s for his debut, and Pierce Sinden who added an unbeaten 9th wicket partnership of 30 runs to see Meopham home with 4 overs to spare.
